Would a monthly subscription be the spark that helps you to develop your skills and creativity with your rigid heddle weaving loom?

The TabbyandTweed Weaving Club is a monthly rigid heddle pattern subscription designed by Emma and Gill – two experienced weavers and teachers based in Wiltshire.  Each month, something lovely lands on your doormat.

If you have a rigid heddle loom or are about to buy one then we know the feeling of excitement that you will be feeling.  We also know that new weavers have many questions. Sometimes weavers also don’t always feel as confident as they would like when embarking on a new project.  This is exactly what the TabbyandTweed weaving club is designed to help with.  Each month, members receive a brand new printed weaving pattern posted directly to them, along with access to an exclusive video resource covering a skill or technique tied to that month’s project.

What you will receive each month:

  • A printed pattern posted to you – no printing – your pattern arrives ready to use with clear instructions with tips on how to tackle any tricky bits

  • Yarn suggestions – the printed pattern outlines the yarn that we have used to weave the project

  • Colour suggestions – you will have access to a members only webpage which for several of the monthly patterns will include a colour selection tool where you will be able to visualise the final scarf if you make alternative colour choices for your project.

  • An exclusive video resource – each month a members only video will introduce and explain specific skills and techniques linked to the project

  • A £5 discount code each month – to use against the matched yarn kit or rigid heddle loom purchase on the TabbyandTweed website

Growing skills, month by month – projects are carefully designed to build confidence whilst introducing techniques and tips to develop your weaving skills

Why it works for beginners and intermediates

Often the most common challenges for anyone new to rigid heddle loom weaving is simply knowing how to design a new project or deciding what to make next.  The club removes that friction entirely.  Every project is chosen to stretch your skills in a manageable wary – you learn by doing.

Who is the Weaving Club for?

The club is well suited to you if any of these sound familiar:

  • You have just started weaving with a rigid heddle loom and want regular guidance

  • You are not always sure what to weave next or how to choose yarns and colours

  • You want to learn by doing rather than reading lots of theory

  • You enjoy having a creative project arrive each month to prompt you and help you to enjoy your hobby

  • You are an intermediate weaver looking for fresh project ideas and new techniques to explore

What loom do you need?

You will need a rigid heddle loom with a minimum weaving width of 10.5 inches (27cm) and a 8 (or 7.5epi) epi heddle with at least 82 combined slots and holes and 10 (or 12) epi heddle with at least 100 combined slots and holes.  All patterns are designed using a TabbyandTweed loom but any brand of rigid heddle loom will work perfectly well.

Each month’s pattern will list the recommended yarn with enough detail for you to source your own or substitute alternatives.

Designed by weavers who teach

Emma and Gill, the two weavers behind TabbyandTweed are not just designers and makers of weaving kits and weaving patterns.  They are also experienced teachers.  The patterns and video resources in the club reflect their approach to teaching: clear, encouraging and focused on the joy of making something with your hands.

That teaching background means each project has been thought through with a learner’s perspective in mind.

The club opened up for membership on the 1st May with the first pattern being dispatched in June with new patterns arriving each month for members
