The TabbyandTweed weaving club subscription - Frequently asked questions
****Launching May 2026 with first pattern received in June ***
About the Subscription
What is included in my monthly subscription? Each month you will receive a new rigid heddle loom weaving pattern through your letterbox. The pattern will include detailed warping and weaving instructions, suggested colour combinations and details of the yarn used to allow you to substitute in your own yarn if you wish. In addition, you will receive a link to exclusive video resources which will focus on a particular skill or aspect of the monthly pattern.
You will also receive a £5 off voucher code which will be valid for the current and following month. The voucher will be valid for purchase of one of the limited number of the monthly pattern yarn kits or for a rigid heddle weaving loom. If you have not used the voucher by its expiry date then you will no longer be able to use it. You will however receive a new voucher each month.
How much will the monthly subscription cost including the postage cost?
Membership to the UK weaving club will be £5.99 per month
Membership to the International weaving club will be £10.49 per month
Do I need to be an experienced weaver to join?
Not at all. This subscription is designed with beginners in mind. If you are just starting out or still building confidence you will be gently guided through each project step by step.
What language will the patterns be written in?
The patterns will be written in English
What countries will you post to?
We post to the UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia
Who is the subscription particularly suited for?
The subscription is suited to you if:
-
you have just started using a rigid heddle loom
-
you are an intermediate rigid heddle loom weaver looking for some new ideas
-
you are not always sure what to weave next
-
you would like guidance on yarns and colours for a project
-
you want to learn by doing, rather than reading lots of theory
-
you like having clear guidance and gentle support to build your skills.
What kind of loom do I need and can I use the rigid heddle loom I have?
You will need a rigid heddle loom. We will be using our TabbyandTweed rigid heddle loom to develop the kits so all patterns will require a rigid heddle loom with a minimum of a 10.5 inches / 27cm weaving width. You will also need an 7.5epi/8epi heddle with a minimum of 82 (slots and holes combined) or a 10/12.5epi heddle with a minimum of 100 (slot and holes combined). If you have an alternative brand of loom, then you will need to choose the closest heddle. If you are unsure whether your loom is compatible, drop us an email.
If I have a wider loom and want to weave something wider will this be possible?
We won’t be including details on adapting the pattern but if for example you have a loom with a 21inch weaving width then you can double the repeat of the warp and yarn amounts etc.
What if I have never used my loom before?
That is fine. The patterns and videos are designed to be approachable. You don’t need to know everything before you begin. For those people who need help warping their rigid heddle weaving loom then this video tutorial is available to help. You can pause, rewind and revisit this video tutorial each time you warp your loom if you need help to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdhXX4Qj6Ns
Can I buy the yarn kit to weave the monthly pattern?
We plan to have a limited number of the project kits available for purchase on our website each month. These kits will only be available for the current and following month or until sold out.
Are the patterns easy to follow?
The patterns are written to be clear, simple, and beginner friendly.
Can I choose which patterns I receive? No, each month one pattern is released. These patterns are not repeated so you will receive a new pattern for as long as the subscription runs for you.
What weaving techniques do the patterns cover?
Our patterns over the months will cover a wide range of techniques. Some such examples will be weaving a neat selvedge, balanced weaving, log cabin weaving, using a pickup stick. Each month introduces a new project so that you can weave something new and engaging.
Will the patterns include a materials list?
Each pattern will include guidance on yarn choices, including helpful suggestions and alternatives. The pattern will outline the specifications of the yarn we have used in weaving our own project and this information will enable you to either buy the same yarn or substitute it for an alternative yarn.
How will I be able to access the video resources?
The pattern will have a Resource and Links section where you will be able to find the links for the video resources.
Can I share the pattern with a friend or weaving group?
Your weaving club membership is for your personal use. You can give your pattern to a friend, but we ask that you don’t copy it and distribute. Likewise, the video resources are for Weaving club members only so again please do not distribute the links.
Can I sell items made from the patterns?
Our patterns are for personal use only.
Can I go at my own pace?
Absolutely. There is no pressure to keep up. You can take as much time as you need with each project.
What if I make a mistake?
That is all part of learning! The monthly pattern will address techniques which will help weavers to learn and develop their skills. The supporting video resources also address features of the weaving process pertinent to the monthly pattern. Every project is a chance to develop your skills further.
Receiving the pattern
Will I receive the patterns digitally or by post?
Your pattern will be printed and posted to you each month by standard UK or International Mail (no tracking). Video resources are accessed online, and you will be given the link to access these if you wish.
When will my pattern arrive?
Patterns are sent out during the first week of the month. You will receive yours through the post, ready to start your next project. Delivery within the UK is via second class post and should be with you by 7th of the month. Delivery Internationally will be via Royal Mail International Standard and is likely to arrive around the middle of the month.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver across the UK, to Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia. Postage costs are included.
Are there different options depending on where you want delivery to?
Yes, there is a weaving club for the UK and a weaving club for the International locations of Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia. The International Weaving Club is a little more expensive simply because postage to those locations is higher. The patterns and resources received each month is the same regardless of which Weaving Club you are in.
When will my first letter arrive?
Orders placed before the 1st of the month will be included in that months dispatch. So, if you place an order between 1st May and 31st May you will receive the pattern for June.
I have just joined the Weaving Club - do I get this month's pattern or next month's?
If you join before the end of the month you will get next month’s pattern. So if you join on 21st May you will receive June’s pattern.
Will back issues/patterns ever be available to buy?
This may be an option going forwards if this is something which we feel members would value.
What if my letter doesn't arrive?
If your letter hasn't arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us at tabbyandtweed@outlook.com and we will investigate and send a replacement if needed. At busy times near Christmas etc International postage and customs clearance can take a little longer. Please be especially patient at this time.
What if my letter arrives damaged?
Please email us at tabbyandtweed@outlook.com with your name, address and photo of the damaged item.
