What is the difference between a rigid heddle loom and a frame loom?
A rigid heddle loom is designed for weaving longer projects like scarves and fabric - it has a continuous
warp and a heddle that separates the threads for weaving. A frame loom is a fixed frame used for smaller, self-contained projects like coasters, bookmarks and wall hangings. We would recommend a frame loom kit as a first step, and a rigid heddle kit when you're ready to weave longer pieces.
How long does it take to weave a scarf on a rigid heddle loom?
Most beginners complete their first scarf in a few sessions, typically 3–6 hours of weaving time depending on the
width and length. Warping the loom for the first time takes a little longer - our video
tutorials walk you through it step by step.
Do you offer weaving workshops?
Yes, we run learn-to-weave workshops for those who'd like hands-on guidance. Check our workshop page for upcoming workshop dates and availability.
