A Beginner Weaving Kit with Hand-Dyed Merino and British Wool Yarn - Perfect as a Craft Gift

Make your own woven bookmarks with this bright beginner weaving kit. This green and turquoise colourway includes hand-dyed merino and nylon yarn alongside 100% British wool - everything you need is in the kit, including a reusable FSC-certified birch plywood loom, instructions, and enough yarn to weave two bookmarks. No experience needed.

What You Will Make

Using the included yarn, you'll weave two bookmarks on the small wooden frame loom. The instruction booklet teaches you three weaving designs in sequence:

  • Tabby - the most fundamental weaving structure. Weft yarn passes alternately over and under each warp thread: simple, satisfying, and the foundation for everything else.
  • Twill - a more advanced structure that creates a subtle diagonal rib in the finished fabric, adding texture and visual depth.
  • Houndstooth - the classic two-colour checked pattern, woven by alternating blocks of colour in a specific sequence. Recognisable, elegant, and impressive for a first project.
  • Log cabin - a bold striped effect using colour and weave interplay
  • Tartan - the traditional Scottish plaid structure

The woven bookmark shown in the product photos is an example only - it is not included in the kit. Everything you need to weave your own is inside.

About the Yarn

This colourway combines two types of yarn for different effects. The hand-dyed merino and nylon yarn in bright green, lime and turquoise is dyed by hand, which means subtle colour variation within each skein and a richness of tone that machine-dyed yarn rarely achieves. The 100% British wool yarn is sourced from British sheep: natural, soft, and with the character of a traditional material.
