Everything You Need to Weave a Stunning Teal and Plum Tartan Scarf

Learn to weave a beautiful teal, plum and pale pink tartan scarf with this all-inclusive rigid heddle loom kit. Fully assembled, beginner-friendly, and made in our UK workshop -everything you need is included.

This kit is the perfect starting point for anyone new to weaving. Whether you are a complete beginner or returning to a craft you have always wanted to explore, the loom arrives fully assembled and ready to use straight out of the box.

The teal, plum and pale pink colourway produces a striking tartan pattern in British wool -a scarf that looks far more complex to make than it actually is. The step-by-step instruction booklet, with images throughout, guides you from setting up and warping the loom through to weaving the tartan and finishing the fringe. A supporting YouTube tutorial from TabbyandTweed covers the warping process in full.

What is in the Kit

  • Rigid heddle loom – fully assembled, 26cm weaving width, 8epi reed (ideal for DK / double knit yarn)
  • 3 shuttles, warping peg, 2 clamps and a plastic threading hook
  • British wool yarn in teal, plum and pale pink – sufficient to complete the scarf
  • Instruction booklet with images and a step-by-step warping and weaving guide
  • Tartan scarf pattern – finished scarf is approximately 23cm wide × 150cm long with a 13cm fringe at each end

Optional: add a project bag (available separately) with internal pockets sized to hold your yarn, threading hook, warping peg, shuttles and clamps.

Loom Dimensions

34cm × 39cm × 11cm (heddle up) / 9cm (heddle down). The loom also has a neutral heddle position for pick-up stick weaving when you’re ready to try more complex patterns.

Beyond the Kit

Once the kit yarn is used, you can continue weaving with any DK yarn. Additional reeds are available separately: 10epi for 4-ply yarn and 6epi for Aran weight, both fully compatible with this loom.
