Two 4ply Scarf Designs for Rigid Heddle Loom Owners — Choose Pink Tartan Plaid or Colour Block
The Pink Tartan Design
A classic Tartan design with dark and pale pink, orange and yellow colours.
The Colour Block Design
An easier scarf to weave with blocks of dark pink, pale pink and a pale green
Why 4ply?
Both designs use 4ply yarn (also known as fingering weight) woven at 10epi - finer than the DK yarn used in the standard TabbyandTweed scarf kits. 4ply produces a lighter, more drapey fabric with sharper pattern definition: the tartan stripes and colour block transitions are more precise in 4ply than they would be in DK. The finished scarf is approximately 22cm wide and 150cm long, with a 12cm fringe at each end.
What's Included

Loom Compatibility - 10epi Required
This kit requires a rigid heddle loom with a 10 ends per inch (epi) heddle with 100 holes and slots. This is a finer heddle than the standard 8epi/82-slot configuration used in the TabbyandTweed beginner kits. The 10epi heddle is available separately in the TabbyandTweed accessories range.
Made in the UK
The pattern is designed by TabbyandTweed in their Salisbury, Wiltshire workshop.
FAQ's
Do I need a special heddle?
Yes. A 10epi heddle with 100 slots is required - not the standard 8epi. If you own the TabbyandTweed rigid heddle loom, the 10epi heddle is available separately in the accessories range.
What does 4ply produce compared to DK?
4ply at 10epi produces a finer, lighter, more drapey fabric than DK at 8epi. The pattern detail is sharper, the scarf lighter in hand, and the finished fabric more refined in character.
Is this kit for beginners?
A: Yes - both scarves are beginner scarves.
