This weaving kit is perfect for a beginner who would like to learn to weave on a rigid heddle loom. The houndstooth check pattern is excellent as it encourages the weaver to weave in a balanced way creating this traditional and classic design using merino wool. The loom comes fully assembled loom with all accessories and instructions included - beginner-friendly, made in the UK.
What You Will Make
A houndstooth checked merino wool scarf. There are two colour options allowing you to choose to weave either a teal and grey scarf or a dark navy and grey scarf. The scarf shown in the product images is not included - it is an example of what you will weave with this kit.
What is in the Kit
- Rigid heddle loom - fully assembled, 26cm weaving width, 8epi reed (for DK / double knit yarn)
- Merino wool yarn in teal and grey or dark navy and grey - sufficient to weave the complete tartan scarf
- 3 shuttles, warping peg, 2 clamps and a plastic threading hook
- Instruction booklet with step-by-step images for warping and weaving

Loom Dimensions
34cm × 39cm × 11cm (heddle up) / 9cm (heddle down). The loom has a neutral heddle position for pick-up stick weaving when you’re ready.
Made in the UK
The loom is designed and made by Gillian Siggers and Emma Baker in TabbyandTweed’s workshop in Salisbury, Wiltshire, using FSC and PEFC certified birch plywood.

Is there a wool-free navy and grey option?
Yes. The TabbyandTweed navy and grey cotton scarf kit uses 100% cotton yarn for a lighter, smoother scarf without wool content.
Is this kit suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The loom arrives fully assembled and the instruction booklet guides you through warping and weaving step by step.
What size scarf does this kit make?
The kit creates a scarf which is approximately 20m wide, 162cm long with an additional 8cm fringe at each end.
Can I use the loom for other projects afterwards?
Yes. Once the kit yarn is used, the loom works with any DK yarn. Additional 10epi (for 4 ply) and 6epi (for Aran) reeds are available separately.
