Learn Three Weaving Designs on a Reusable FSC Certified Loom — Tabby, Twill and Houndstooth in Blue, Teal and Green British Wool
Weave your own bookmarks in blue, teal and green British wool - a cool, classic palette for weavers and gift-buyers who prefer natural, understated tones. The kit includes a reusable FSC-certified birch plywood loom, wool yarn, and an instruction booklet teaching weaving designs including: tabby, twill and houndstooth. No experience needed.
What You'll Learn
The instruction booklet teaches three weaving designs in order of complexity:
- Tabby (plain weave) - the foundation of all weaving. The weft passes alternately over and under each warp thread. Simple, immediate, and satisfying.
- Twill - creates a diagonal rib by offsetting the weft interlacement on each row. Adds visual texture and depth to the finished bookmark.
- Houndstooth - a two-colour broken check produced by alternating colour sequences in the warp and weft. Produces an intricate-looking pattern that is more achievable than it appears.
- Log cabin - a bold striped effect using colour and weave interplay
- Tartan - the traditional Scottish plaid structure
All these designs can be woven on the same small bookmark loom with the included yarn.
The Yarn
The kit uses British wool in blue, teal and green - a cool, harmonious palette that produces bookmarks with a fresh, natural character. Blue is the primary colour; teal (a deep blue-green) and green add depth and contrast. The combination suits a range of book types and makes a versatile, wearable bookmark.

FAQ;s
What is a bookmark weaving loom?
A bookmark weaving loom is a small, hand-held frame loom for weaving narrow strips of fabric. The TabbyandTweed bookmark loom is made from FSC-certified birch plywood and produces bookmarks to fit a standard paperback. It is reusable - once you have used the included yarn, you can continue weaving with any DK weight yarn.
Is this kit suitable for beginners?
Yes. No experience is needed. The instruction booklet starts from the very beginning and guides you through warping the loom and weaving designs: tabby, twill, tartan, log cabin and houndstooth.
What is the blue, teal and green colourway like?
A cool-toned palette in British wool - blue as the primary colour, with teal and green adding depth. A natural, classic alternative to the warmer or more vivid colourways in the TabbyandTweed bookmark range.
How is this different from the other bookmark kit colourways?
All of the TabbyandTweed bookmark kits use the same loom and teach the same techniques. The difference is the yarn: this kit uses cool-toned British wool in blue, teal and green; the rainbow kit uses hand-dyed merino (the bestseller); the pink/lime kit uses two-colour British wool; the green/turquoise kit uses a fresher two-tone palette. Choose based on your colour preference or the recipient's taste.
Is this a good gift?
Yes. The blue, teal and green palette is versatile and classic - a good choice for gift buyers who want something considered but not overly bold. Available in a bag or gift box at checkout.
Can I use my own yarn once the included yarn runs out?
Yes. The loom is fully reusable with any DK weight yarn. Additional yarn spools are also available separately from TabbyandTweed.
