Develop Three Intermediate Weaving Skills: Complex Warping, Selvedge Management and Weft Yarn Changes

A yarn and pattern kit for weavers who have completed a few projects on their rigid heddle loom and are ready for the next challenge. This intermediate kit teaches specific skills: a complex warping technique and changing weft yarns cleanly. The blue and teal British wool scarf is the project; the skills are what you take away. The loom is not included.

What Makes This an Intermediate Kit

The difference between this kit and the beginner starter kits is not just the colour sequence - it is the warping approach which is a little more complex than normal as the pattern uses single green warp and weft threads in the weave.

What You Will Weave

A handwoven scarf in blue and teal using 100% British wool - approximately 22cm wide and 146cm long, with a 12cm fringe at each end.

What is Included

  • skeins of 100% British wool in blue, green and teal
  • Weaving instruction booklet with threading sequence, warp colour order and weft pattern

The loom, heddle, shuttles, and finished scarf shown in the images are not included. This is a yarn and pattern kit for weavers who already own a compatible loom.

Loom Compatibility

This kit requires a rigid heddle loom fitted with a 7.5 or 8epi heddle with 82 holes and slots total. Three shuttles are needed. The pattern works on any compatible rigid heddle loom. If you need an 8epi heddle, it is available separately in the TabbyandTweed accessories range.

Who This Kit Is For

This kit is for weavers who already own a rigid heddle loom and have woven a few projects on it. If you have completed one or two plain weave or simple colour scarves and want a project that specifically develops your selvedge, warping, and weft management skills, this kit is designed for exactly that stage.

For a simpler next project, the TabbyandTweed cream and beige checked scarf kit is a straightforward two-colour checked pattern.  For a more technically demanding challenge, the log cabin scarf kit introduces multi-shuttle colour block weaving.

Made in the UK

The pattern is designed by TabbyandTweed in their Salisbury, Wiltshire workshop. The yarn is 100% British wool sourced from British sheep.
